Professional
Hiscox
March 2022 - Present
I am currently working as a Development Underwriter at Hiscox Insurance in Dublin, where I specialise in assessing and managing a broad range of risk categories. In this role, I work closely with brokers to provide tailored insurance solutions, balancing commercial insight with a strong understanding of risk management.
My position requires a strategic approach to underwriting, ensuring that we maintain profitability while delivering exceptional service. I enjoy the dynamic nature of the role, which involves analysing complex risks, negotiating terms, and developing strong relationships within the industry.
Zurich Insurance
September 2019 - March 2022
I joined the Zurich Graduate Program in 2019, where I have had the opportunity to work across three key functions: Underwriting, Business Change, and Claims.
While the COVID-19 pandemic led to some restrictions on my role transitions, I remained in each function for longer than initially planned. Instead of viewing this as a setback, I see it as a valuable experience. The extended time in each area allowed me to deepen my understanding of the business and gain a more comprehensive appreciation for the roles I held.
Academic
Insurance Institute of Ireland
I have earned an Accredited Product Adviser (APA) designation from the Insurance Institute of Ireland. This qualification, completed remotely, has enhanced my technical knowledge of insurance products and regulations, ensuring I can provide informed and compliant underwriting decisions. The course strengthened my expertise in key industry principles, reinforcing my ability to assess risk and support clients with confidence.
Dublin City University
I began my Business Studies degree at DCU in 2014 and graduated in 2018 with a 2.1 overall. My time at DCU was both rewarding and formative, allowing me to develop critical thinking skills, gain maturity, and build a strong foundation in various aspects of business.
The first two years of my degree provided a broad introduction to key business disciplines, including Accounting, Management, Economics, and Finance. This comprehensive approach gave me valuable insight into how these functions interact within an organisation.
In my final year, I chose to specialise in Business Management, deepening my understanding of leadership, strategy, and organisational dynamics.
